This theory was confirmed by Eric Kripke in an interview with "Variety" magazine. Kripke hinted that a virus wreaking havoc at the university will play a significant role in the upcoming season of "The Boys". However, Kripke did not confirm if we will see "Gen V" heroes in the next installment, answering the journalist's question with a humorous "Shrugging emoji".
Kripke also clarified the timeline of the events portrayed in both titles, tying into a scene featuring Butcher from the spin-off's end credits. "We believe this takes place just a few days after the events of "Generation V". We're trying to maintain a clear timeline, as incorporating all the elements other comic universes have to navigate can be daunting for viewers. It's more like rail cars than a spaghetti plate," Kripke said, critiquing the convoluted chronology often seen in other large-scale screen stories like those from Marvel.
