Russia comments on the election results in the US
"Let's remember, we are talking about an unfriendly country, which is directly and indirectly engaged in the war against our state," Peskov stated, commenting on the unofficial results of the presidential elections in the US. He was quoted by the independent Russian portal Meduza.
When asked whether the lack of congratulations would worsen relations with the US, the Kremlin spokesperson stated that "further deterioration is practically impossible because the relations are at the worst moment in history."
Peskov also commented on Trump's pre-election promises that, if elected, he would bring about the end of the war in Ukraine. In his opinion, the US "is capable of helping to end the conflict," but it cannot be done "overnight." He also said that "it is precisely the USA that continually adds fuel to the fire of this conflict and participates in it directly."
