FSB claims German citizen plotted sabotage in Nizhny Novgorod
In Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, the FSB detained a young Russian man who also holds German citizenship. The 20-year-old was accused of preparing an act of sabotage.
Attention! Many reports about alleged attacks and aggression from the Ukrainian side, as well as the course of the war, provided by Russian and Belarusian state media, may not be true. Such reports might be elements of an information war by the Russian Federation.
According to the Russian FSB, the man, who holds a German passport, was detained before the planned attack. In his testimony, he stated that in November 2024, he was preparing an attack on a railway track in Nizhny Novgorod using a homemade explosive device.
This attack was allegedly being prepared on the orders of the Ukrainian special services. The 20-year-old reportedly confessed that he was promised payment for this.
It is claimed that in the young man's home, a ready-to-use improvised explosive device was found, along with correspondence with a representative of the Ukrainian special services.
The FSB claims they got onto the trail of the bomber during searches on the territory of the Russian Federation for "followers of the Ukrainian neo-Nazi ideology." He was detained along with a group of young people involved in committing common crimes.
Foreigners under FSB scrutiny?
As the German website welt.de reminds us, recently, Russian secret services have increasingly been arresting foreigners on charges of allegedly planning attacks in Russia.
To justify the war against Ukraine, Putin has often cited the allegedly ruling Nazis in that country. Opponents of the war in Russia—especially if they support Ukraine—are often labelled as Nazis in Russia.
