The lives of the fabulously wealthy have electrified society for years. Excessive frugality, especially when practiced by people who boast an exceptionally privileged financial position, can stir up even more emotions. An excellent example is Aimee Elizabeth's life.
The American millionaire became known through the show "Extreme Cheapskates," aired on TLC. The 51-year-old Aimee Elizabeth has a fortune worth $5.3 million. While many people would spend such funds on exclusive villas, exotic vacations, or designer clothes, this millionaire has a more unconventional approach to managing her finances.
The world's stingiest millionaire
Las Vegas resident Aimee Elizabeth set a goal for her monthly expenses not to exceed $1,000. She has developed her methods to achieve this. As it turns out, she only takes a shower with a watch in hand at specific times. Moreover, she has been washing dishes with the same sponge for years, which she claims she wants to "wear out" before buying a new one. It is worth mentioning that she washes her dishes only in cold water.
I have the water heater turned off. It takes me 22 minutes to heat it up for a morning shower. I turn it on every morning and set it for 22 minutes so I know exactly when everything is ready. Heaven forbid I waste another minute heating it - she says.
Millionaire served guests pet food
The millionaire from "Extreme Cheapskates" has perfected the art of saving, even in dietary matters. The 51-year-old resorts to rather radical measures to spend as little as possible. Aimee eats what her cat eats: cans of ground tuna and chicken intended for animals. There have been situations where the food intended for the pet was even served to her guests.
Once she made me a tuna sandwich, but I felt something was wrong... - her friend said in front of the camera.
Aimee Elizabeth is aware that not everyone may share her enthusiasm for saving. The American millionaire also does not hide that her loved ones are already turning a blind eye to her extreme approach to saving. The 51-year-old is, however, proud of herself because, thanks to her methods, she manages to save money every month.
I think when I go to these extremes, people see it and many of them get annoyed by it. I don't care. It allows me to save money - says the frugal millionaire.
