The former owner, local businessman Donald Douglas, designed one of the world's most extraordinary homes. The house abounds with peculiar items - antique church pews repurposed as kitchen seating are just the tip of the iceberg.
Douglas, an antique enthusiast, has incorporated an array of surprising combinations into the interior design.
But how does one blend a fondness for Disney and Playboy? Just focus on crafting the interiors of a villa that could be mistaken for the residence of the Great Gatsby himself. Spanning over ten thousand square feet, the Douglas villa can take visitors on a journey. According to the real estate agent and current owner, the house features a dome at the entrance, evoking Main Street of Walt Disney's theme parks. One of the living rooms also pays homage to the Playboy mansion.
The kitchen surprises at every corner. The main counter features an unexpected twist - repurposed antique church pews. Additionally, an original stove from the 1980s adds to the unique ambiance. As emphasized by the real estate agent, as every piece in the home is a standalone antique with a rich history.
This house is a delightful mix of myriad styles. It incorporates elements from the Victorian era, French Normandy, Gothic, and traditional American style. The house even boasts a firefighter's pole and a London-inspired spiral staircase. Initially, Douglas had only planned for a Victorian-style mansion. However, the renovation, which took thirty years and saw the house transformed into a Tudor-style residence, allowed Donald to collect unique artifacts that ultimately shaped the villa.
