Nonetheless, the choice of how we represent ourselves remains in our own hands. For this reason, many people choose to conceal signs of aging by dyeing their locks. What many people don't realize is that there are alternatives that are less costly.
Gray hair isn't a source of embarrassment today
But why do we get gray hair? Science points towards a gradual decline in melanin in our bodies, which declines with age. Melanin is the pigment that determines our hair color.
If premature graying occurs, it can indicate a health problem. Among those grappling with this issue are people suffering from Hashimoto's disease. Sometimes, it can be a sign of a vitamin B12 deficiency.
How can one affordably manage gray hair?
Nowadays, a visit to a hairdresser can be quite costly. The cost can range from a few hundred to a few thousand zlotys, depending on the specialist's reputation and the length of the client's hair.
One alternative is to dye your hair at home. However, one must exercise caution when selecting the appropriate dye and avoid incorrect application that could compromise hair health.
There's a method that's not only cost-efficient but also simple. All we need is about 8 teaspoons of ground coffee. If you have long hair, you'll need more. Once coffee is brewed and cooled, apply it as a mask to your lightly towel-dried shampooed hair.
For an effective result, maintain the right temperature. Wrap your hair in a foil bag or a cap and leave it for approximately 15-20 minutes. Finally, rinse with water.
To achieve the desired effect, patience and consistency are key because this treatment should be repeated every time you wash your hair.
