Frances Bean Cobain and Riley Hawk welcome baby boy Ronin Walker

Frances Bean Cobain, daughter of Kurt Cobain, and her husband, Riley Hawk, welcomed their first child into the world on September 28, 2024. The couple announced the birth of their son by posting a series of photos and an emotional message on their social media profiles. We already know the baby’s name.

Frances Bean Cobain, daughter of the legendary Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain and vocalist Courtney Love, and her husband, professional skateboarder Riley Hawk, have become parents. The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Ronin Walker Cobain Hawk.

The joyful news was announced on September 28, 2024, when Frances shared the information on social media, revealing that the boy was born on September 17. In an emotional message, she wrote:

Welcome to the world, most beautiful son. We love you more than anything else.

Along with the birth announcement, Frances posted a series of black-and-white photos, including one where the newborn is holding her hand, and another photo of Frances’ husband, Riley Hawk, embracing their son. Another picture shows the baby wrapped in a blanket with closed eyes. The touching moment was further emphasized by the accompanying music — John Lennon’s song "Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy)," which Frances included in her post.

The couple received a wave of congratulations from close ones and friends from the entertainment industry. Tony Hawk, Riley’s father and skateboarding legend, humorously wrote: "My favorite grandson!" Among those commenting was Zelda Williams, the daughter of the late actor Robin Williams, who added an enthusiastic message: "Ahhhh! Congratulations!!!!" Harper Grohl, daughter of Dave Grohl, former bandmate of Kurt’s from Nirvana, expressed her emotions with emojis – a crying face and a heart.

The love story of Frances and Riley dates back to 2022, when after a year-long break, Frances returned to Instagram, posting photos with Riley. In one of the posts, she shared pictures of the couple spending holidays by the Christmas tree, as well as vacations with the Hawk family. At that time, Frances wrote:

I took a year long break from posting on Instagram which was exceptionally good for my mental, emotional & spiritual health. 2021 brought me more into the present moment than I've ever been, which I'm deeply grateful for.

In October 2023, the couple got married during an intimate Victorian-style ceremony officiated by Michael Stipe, the lead singer of R.E.M. and also Frances’ godfather. This is Frances's second marriage—she was previously married to musician Isaiah Silva. The couple separated in 2016 after less than two years of marriage.
