The grim incident involving Sytch took place in Florida in March 2022. The ex-wrestler struck Julian Lasseter, a 75-year-old man who had stopped at the lights, with her vehicle.

The accident resulted in fatal injuries to the man. American investigators accused Sytch of impaired driving at the time of the accident. Notably, the former WWE competitor had been convicted six times before for driving under the influence.

Sytch, aged 50, was arrested and faced eight charges in connection with the fatal accident in May 2022. The former WWE star initially pleaded not guilty, but later reached an agreement with prosecutors and changed her statement in August.

According to reports from American media, the verdict was issued at the trial that took place on Monday. Sytch appeared in court dressed in an orange jumpsuit, with handcuffs on her wrists. She was eventually sentenced to 17 years in prison and lost her driver's license permanently.

As TMZ reports, during her final speech, Sytch showed remorse and broke down in tears. The 50-year-old also directly addressed the family of the man who died in the accident.

"I know my words are not enough, but I think about you every day," she said.

TMZ further reports that Sytch remained composed after the verdict was read. The woman did not resist when officers escorted her out of the courtroom.

Sytch embarked on her wrestling career in the early 90s. Her career spanned until 2018 and she was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011.
