The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced that D’Marquivius Jamon "DJ" King, aged 25, has been indicted by a Spalding County grand jury on one count of violating his oath of office.

According to The Washington Times, Mr. Beck, the brother of the former police officer, was arrested and charged with murder and aggravated assault eight months following Reid's death. Georgia authorities reported that a former law enforcement officer surrendered himself on Friday for neglecting to probe a murder case involving his brother.

The agency reported that Mr. King discovered his brother, Damon Beck, was connected to the homicide but then "neglected to conduct a proper investigation into the murder."

The GBI did not specify the precise actions Mr. King omitted in his investigation.

In February 2023, Griffin's prosecutors requested the agency to review how Mr. King managed the investigation.

At the time of investigating the 2021 murder of Javarreis Reid, Mr. King was serving as an investigator with the Griffin Police Department, the GBI noted.
