Foreign drones spark massive blaze at Ryazan refinery
During the night from Saturday to Sunday, foreign drones—most likely Ukrainian—appeared over the refinery in the city of Ryazan, located about 125 miles southeast of Moscow. A series of explosions occurred. This is yet another attack on this facility carried out within a few days.
The attack took place around 1 AM. According to local residents, about ten explosions were heard. The governor of the Ryazan region, Pavel Malkov, assured that the air defense systems managed to shoot down the drones.
However, photos and recordings appearing on social media suggest that at least some of the drones reached their target. A large column of fire emerged on the refinery premises, illuminating the night sky over the entire area.
Russian Telegram channels report that the fire at the plant is "very large." Meanwhile, residents of the surrounding areas noted that after the attack, services guarded the access roads to the refinery. Only fire trucks, of which a "large number" were heading towards the fire scene, were permitted to pass.
Another attack on the refinery in Ryazan
The refinery near Moscow was also targeted by drones on Thursday. Ukrainians carried out a massive attack on numerous targets in Russia that day.
Among the targets was the refinery in Ryazan. Additionally, three Moscow airports—Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky—suspended all flights. One recording captured an explosion on the territory of the attacked refinery. The people gathered around subsequently fled in panic.
