The proper functioning of our digestive system largely depends on our diet. Scientific studies show that regular consumption of certain products can negatively affect the intestines and stomach, and can also promote the development of cancer cells. Among the products harmful to the intestines, immune system, and that promote inflammation and cancer are sugar, sweeteners, and white wheat flour. Another dangerous product that contains carcinogenic compounds is certain types of meat. Joanna Mulik-Buczma, a psycho-dietitian and food technologist from the Dolnośląska School of Higher Education, informed that consuming 1.8 ounces of processed meat daily increases the risk of colorectal cancer by 18 percent.

The expert also warns against spicy spices. Research results published in the British journal "BMJ" suggest that spicy additions reduce the risk of premature death, but they can also lead to gastrointestinal problems.

The article in "Neurogastroenterology & Motility" proved that excessive consumption of spicy spices irritates the mucous membranes of the digestive system, increasing the risk of stomach, esophagus, and oral cancers. People with ulcers, reflux, or inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract should avoid these spices.

Be careful with products rich in sodium as well. Excessive salt consumption is destructive to the digestive system and can shorten life by up to two years. Additionally, salt can increase the risk of developing ulcers and stomach cancer. Malik points out that salt enhances unfavorable cellular changes and strengthens the effects of other carcinogenic factors present in grilled meat, bacon, ham, or salami.
