A violent storm over the French Riviera on Monday morning led to a flash flood in Cannes. Videos posted online show streets turning into raging rivers.
The water flowed with such force that its current swept away cars.
Fortunately, there are no reports of casualties, although videos published online also show people struggling with the natural disaster.
In 2015, as a result of a flash flood on the French Riviera, at least 19 people died, and tens of thousands were left without power, Reuters reminds us.
Authorities did not issue a warning?
In an interview with BFM TV, the mayor of Cannes, David Lisnard, announced that he would demand explanations from the national authorities. The Cannes administration reportedly received a warning about the approaching storm just an hour before chaos erupted on the city's streets.
The French meteorological agency predicts that this is not the end of the heavy rains in southern France, and another strong storm could hit Cannes later on Monday afternoon.
