Puff pastry is one of my favorite ingredients. It's easy to handle and serves as the foundation for an impressive variety of dishes. This flexible, wheat-based sheet is a wonderful partner in developing culinary creativity. The recipe for a tart with puff pastry and ground meat that I'm going to share is, in my opinion, a great example of this versatility.

Of course, the benefits of a tart prepared this way don't end there. Puff pastry plays an important role in various forms at many gatherings. Ground meat wrapped in this flaky pastry can be a wonderful snack at your next family event. So many benefits, so many possibilities! It's truly a dish for all occasions, isn't it?

This recipe is ridiculously simple, and it's not rigid—you can tweak it to your liking, add a few more ingredients, and, for example, give the dish a spicy twist. Personally, I love the simplicity presented below, but judge for yourself.

Puff pastry and ground meat tart

Ingredients:

  • 1 package of puff pastry
  • 1 lb of ground meat
  • 1 onion
  • 1 zucchini
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Dried marjoram
  • Olive oil

For the topping:

  • 2 eggs
  • 3.5 oz of yellow cheese, grated
  • 7 fl oz of 18% cream

Preparation method:

  1. First, bake the puff pastry. Line a tart pan with it, prick it with a fork (to prevent it from rising), and cover it with parchment paper. It's best to add some weight to hold the pastry in place. Place the prepared pastry in an oven preheated to 355°F for about 12 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, in a small amount of oil, sauté the chopped onion and garlic, then add the zucchini.
  3. After a few minutes, add the ground meat and spices to the pan. Mix everything together, and when the meat is cooked through, remove it from the heat.
  4. Spread the prepared filling onto the pre-baked puff pastry.
  5. Crack the eggs into a bowl, mix them with the cream and grated cheese, season with salt and pepper, mix again, and pour over the ground meat in the puff pastry.
  6. Bake for 25 minutes at 355°F. Enjoy!
