In a relationship, we all desire honesty from our significant other. We want to be both respected and loved. Unfortunately, infidelity can creep in. So how do we recognize if our loved one is being unfaithful?

Many of us are familiar with the common signs of infidelity. The partner starts acting mysteriously, works longer hours, and abruptly stops planning a shared future. However, there are also clues that are very easy to overlook.

Sex expert Tracey Cox claims there are five characteristic signs indicating infidelity. In an interview with Mail Online, she shared these insights, especially for those concerned their partners might be seeing someone else.

How to recognize if you're being cheated on

Tracey Cox highlights that the first warning sign should be a sudden increase in passion in bed. If your partner didn't show much interest in sex before and suddenly initiates it constantly, it's worth considering what might be causing this change in behavior. The expert points out a common misconception that if a partner is cheating, they would have less interest or energy for sex in their primary relationship. However, an affair can spark excitement, potentially leading to increased passion at home.

Another indication of potential infidelity is a shift in the partner's behavior towards you. If your loved one becomes oddly critical or exceptionally adoring, it may be a cause for concern.

"If you once argued about something, but now your partner consistently lets you 'win', it could indicate disengagement from your relationship," Tracey Cox explains.

Conversely, your partner may turn unusually critical, pointing out all your flaws and errors.

Additional signs of cheating are avoiding eye contact and accusing you of infidelity. A cheating partner may deflect suspicion by accusing you of unfaithfulness. Refusal to meet your gaze can also suggest infidelity. The expert notes, only an experienced deceiver can look straight into the eyes of the person they're cheating on and mask their guilt.

Change of preferences: a telltale sign your partner might be cheating

The most crucial warning sign is a change in previous preferences. For example, if your partner used to enjoy comedies but suddenly chooses only documentaries, or if they favored rap music but are suddenly interested in alternative music, they might be adapting their interests and hobbies to match someone else's.
