"Dune" has recaptured the world's imagination, notably with the second installment of Herbert's novel adaptation, which premiered in theaters at the end of February. The film has grossed over $710 million worldwide, becoming the year's most successful movie. This success has reassured Warner Bros., confirming audience interest in expanding the "Dune" universe. Notably, Denis Villeneuve is set to direct the upcoming installment of "Dune."

Moreover, fans eagerly await a series that is long in the making. "Dune: The Sisterhood," announced by HBO Max in 2019, will finally debut in the fall of 2024. Set 10,000 years before "Dune," the series will chart the journey of sisters Valya and Tula Harkonnen. These women will confront formidable adversaries to secure humanity's future and establish the Bene Gesserit, a pivotal institution in the "Dune" saga.

Warner Bros.'s recent release of the series' first trailer has sparked considerable excitement, with some hopeful it could become the next "Game of Thrones."

"Dune: The Sisterhood" - the cast

The series boasts an impressive cast featuring Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, and Mark Strong. Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Jihae, Tabu, Charithra Chandran, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning, and Yerin Ha also contribute their talents.

The series is steered by Alison Schapker, who wrote the screenplay, and Anna Foerster, who directed several episodes.

"Dune: The Sisterhood" draws inspiration from "Sisterhood of Dune," a novel by Kevin J. Anderson and Brian Herbert, published in 2012. Brian Herbert, the author's son, continues the legacy of the "Dune" universe.
