Firefighters battle blaze at Kaliningrad's historic shipyard
A fire broke out in the renovated "Pregola" shipyard in the Kaliningrad region, as reported by the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations. Firefighters removed approximately 11 gallons of diesel fuel, 5 gallons of acetone, and a gas cylinder from the burning building.

The fire, according to the Russian TASS agency citing the Ministry of Emergency Situations, engulfed an area of about 1,080 square feet in the renovated "Pregola" shipyard in the Kaliningrad region.

The fire broke out on Thursday afternoon, December 12, in one of the workshops on Portova Street. Nine fire trucks and a total of 30 rescuers were dispatched to the scene.
"The insulation and corrugated metal sheeting are burning. To avoid an explosion, 11 gallons of diesel fuel, 5 gallons of acetone, and 1 gas cylinder were removed from the burning building," one of the rescuers told TASS.
According to the latest data from the Russian agency, firefighters managed to locate the source of the fire and control the situation. The flames did not spread to adjacent buildings in the shipyard. Nevertheless, the fire destroyed the roofing and panels over an area of 860 square feet.
There is no information about any casualties. The causes of the fire are still being determined. A special commission is to be appointed for the matter.
