A firefighter from Florida killed his new wife, then committed suicide. Shawn Yarbrough and his wife Andrea had four children. The murdered woman’s mother said that Andrea loved her husband’s three sons from his previous relationship as if they were her own.

Lieutenant of the St. Johns County Fire Department, Shawn Yarbrough, shot his wife, 34-year-old Andrea Yarbrough, in their home in northeastern Florida.

Yarbrough then turned the gun on himself, and the officers found the couple dead in the upstairs bathroom after 9:00 PM Eastern Time. The shocking events occurred on the evening of June 13.

The couple, who had been married for one year, had a blended family consisting of four children. As emphasized by Fox News, two weeks before her death, Andrea Yarbrough posted on Facebook, showing a picture of her husband's work activity. They included over 3,000 calls per month.

That is why all our partners are exhausted and never function at 100 percent at home - the woman explained.

Murder in the USA. Touching words from the mother

The murdered woman’s mother said that Andrea loved her husband’s three sons from his previous relationship as if they were her own. Andrea was the mother of an 11-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.

She loved those boys and wanted the best for them - Andrea’s mother, Debbie Churchill, told Fox News Digital. - Everything is very confusing and difficult right now. I can't explain it. I don't even know how. It’s something that no one can understand unless they’ve gone through it themselves - she added.

According to the Ruderman Family Foundation report, more rescuers die each year as a result of suicide than while on duty. According to the report by the non-profit organization FirstHelp, from 2016-2022, about 1,200 police officers and correctional officers in the USA committed suicide.
