A fire is ravaging the Pacific Palisades neighborhood in Los Angeles, an area largely inhabited by celebrities. Chet Hanks, the son of Tom Hanks, has appealed for prayers for the place that was his home for years.
Margaret Stewart, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department, emphasized the urgency of complying with evacuation orders as the fire rapidly spread across the densely packed hills, according to KABC, a CNN affiliate. The fire, which CNN reports consumed approximately 740 acres within three hours, has garnered widespread media attention. Celebrities like Mandy Moore and Ben Affleck were forced to evacuate the area, and the blaze has disrupted various city events, including the premiere of Jennifer Lopez's film "Unstoppable".

Chet Hanks appealed to his Instagram followers for prayers for Pacific Palisades, which is being destroyed by the fire. "The neighborhood I grew up in is burning to the ground," he wrote. His parents own property there, but it is not known if it has been affected by the fire.
The fire in Pacific Palisades forced about 30,000 residents to evacuate. Firefighters are battling the blaze, but water and supplies are lacking. The evacuation also includes Malibu and Calabasas. Authorities warn that the worst is yet to come as the fire spreads rapidly.
Well-known figures such as Ben Affleck and Chris Pratt are among the residents threatened by the fire. Spencer Pratt and his wife, Heidi Montag, lost their home due to the fire, but fortunately, they managed to evacuate with their children before the flames arrived.
Oscar-nominated actor James Woods thanked the firefighters for their efforts in fighting the fire. "We are safe and out," he wrote on platform X. He also emphasized the importance of evacuating children from local schools.
