War in Ukraine

The Cosmo Multimall shopping center is in the Solomianka district, on the right bank of Ukraine's capital city.

"We're evacuating the Cosmopolitan shopping center in Kyiv's Solomiansky district due to a fire. Preliminary reports suggest that the fire ignited on the fourth floor of this four-story building, specifically in the children's area. Emergency services are en route to the scene," Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko wrote in a Telegram post earlier today.

Fire extinguished

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine later reported that 13 firefighting teams and over 50 firefighters were deployed to combat the blaze. They successfully extinguished the fire.

"During the firefighting operation, about 200 people were safely evacuated. The evacuation process is continuing. An investigation into the incident has also commenced," the update read.
