Orpo spoke to public broadcaster Yle. When asked whether he fears Finland might enter the war, he responded: "Yes, I am concerned. Let’s set aside the word 'fear,' but numerous times, colleagues abroad ask me about it. I reply that while we are not afraid, we are ready for the worst."
The Finnish Prime Minister pointed out that their neighbor, Russia, has been engaged in an illegal and aggressive war for three years. "That's why we should be concerned. We are being intimidated, but we are not afraid, and wise people prepare. This is a lesson Finland has learned from history," he added.
He emphasized that his primary concern is about ongoing conflicts worldwide, such as the war in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East, along with various hybrid operations recently observed in the Baltic Sea.
Earlier, the Finnish Prime Minister stressed the critical importance of the international community's continued support for Ukraine in its battle against Russian aggression.
Finnish intelligence services have also warned that Russia has ramped up espionage activities targeting Finland.
