How will the war between Ukraine and Russia end? Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen says she has an "optimistic outlook" on the matter. The scenarios created by the Finnish politician are surely not going to please Vladimir Putin.

The war, ongoing since February 24, 2022, is still far from being resolved, and the scales of victory are balancing between Ukraine and Russia. The situation on the front changes quite dramatically, and experts indicate that escalation of the conflict is more likely than the war's end.

Ukraine's situation may be improved by the decision of Western leaders from a few days ago. Let's recall that the authorities of France, the USA, Germany, Canada, and Finland decided that the Ukrainian military can use the provided weapons for defensive actions and offensive operations on Russian territory.

Finnish politician optimistic about resolving the war

Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen sees a chance to resolve the war in this decision. She believes that all countries involved in helping Ukraine should agree to use the provided military equipment offensively.

According to the Finnish minister, this could mean that in the long run "Russia will ultimately not win the war against Ukraine."

We have a quite optimistic outlook that in the long run, Russia will not be able to win this war. The Russians will eventually understand this, but it takes time. However, we are now in the right place - explained Valtonen after the NATO foreign ministers' meeting.

The politician emphasized that "Finland has been open to helping Ukraine since the beginning of the war and has not explicitly banned the full use of the provided military equipment." Is the Helsinki government considering sending soldiers to train the Ukrainian military simultaneously? The answer here is evasive.

We are not ready for that at this moment. We are not even ready to discuss this topic, but it is unknown what the future holds - conveyed Elina Valtonen.

Let's add that discussions on this topic also appear, e.g., in France. The idea of sending French troops to train Ukrainian soldiers was mentioned by, among others, President Emmanuel Macron.
