WhatsApp's web version is about to introduce a new message search feature. Beta release testers have observed that a new calendar icon is being added to the app which when activated, triggers the search engine. This will allow users to access WhatsApp messages from a specific timeframe.

A new function, message search based on date, is in the pipeline for web-based WhatsApp. This option is visible in the release for testers beneath a small calendar icon which appears after activating the message search function. WhatsApp Web currently allows searches only based on content, but post this update, it will be possible to identify time frames, making it easier to access specific messages.

Although this function may seem insignificant to occasional WhatsApp users, those who use the messenger daily and intensively will find it extremely useful. Many users have, undoubtedly, been in a scenario where they wished to locate a specific section of a past conversation, remembering when it occurred, but the sheer volume of message history posed a significant impediment.

Currently, not every WhatsApp Web user has access to this message search by date feature. You'll need to be patient until it is available for all regular users. However, the ready interface and the calendar's operation logic that beta testers are already privy to, indicate that the optimization process is close to completion. It is expected that WhatsApp users will witness the new search engine in their own apps within the coming weeks.
