Final sale alert: snag high-quality winter coats at unbeatable prices
The best winter coats out there are those that are the most insulating. These are typically made with natural materials such as wood or wool. With this in mind, we've narrowed our search to real down coats and those with a high percentage of wool content. Nothing else can thermally regulate quite like sheep’s wool or avian down. These materials don't obstruct airflow while providing warmth. Plus, they're durable and can withstand wear for many years.
Down Coats
Down coats are a prized item in one's winter wardrobe. They make cold temperatures obsolete! We're referring specifically to real down coats, i.e., those that consist of natural filling of feather and down. This kind of filling offers exquisite insulation – it keeps heat in while obstructing cold air. The proportions of down and feathers used in jackets can change. For example, in the navy and beige coat from Reserved, the down-to-feather ratio is 90/10 (90% down, 10% feather), but for the brown model, the ratio is 50/50. In addition to providing ample warmth, coats and jackets with natural filling are surprisingly lightweight. Therefore, extensive models like the navy and beige ones aren’t overbearing, allowing for both comfort and mobility.
The downside of down coats is their cost. Often, they surpass the threshold of a thousand zlotys. Therefore, these luxurious items are perfect to look out for during sales. The models we found in Reserved, for instance, had a discount of up to 40%, making them incredibly affordable. It’s fair to say that 240 zlotys for a coat with natural filling is a small price to pay.
Wool Coats
Wool is an unbeatable material in winter collections. It insulates your body from cold temperatures while simultaneously wicking away moisture. Furthermore, wool permits airflow, doesn't create static, and is hypoallergenic. When it comes to woolen coats, check the composition – you won’t find a coat made purely of wool. And that’s perfectly okay. Pure wool garments can be uncomfortable to wear. By adding synthetic components, the coat becomes more pleasant to touch and gains durability. Regardless, the higher the wool content, the better. The two coats we discovered at Reserved contained 70% wool and 30% polyester. The gray coat from Edited, available at Modivo, boasts an even higher wool content—80% (with 20% polyamide). With discounts, the prices for all these models hover around 500 zlotys.
As the wool content decreases, so does the coat’s pricing. The remaining models from Reserved and Modivo contain 20-40% wool and are primarily comprised of synthetic materials. These start at a very affordable cost of 180 zlotys.
If we were to pick a favorite from these offerings, it would be the blue coat from Reserved. Boasting a beautifully tailored cut with wide sleeves, a large collar, and a waist tie, it’s a robe made from a rich fabric, 70% wool and 30% polyester, offering premium aesthetics. For patrons of classic looks, this model also comes in a beige color.
