The Ferrari 499P handed the Italian brand a much-coveted victory at the 24-hour Le Mans race - a first since 1965. To commemorate this feat, the manufacturer has decided to release a limited series of the racing model into the market.
The 499P Modificata advances on the original that competed at Le Mans, given that it does not have to comply with stringent homologation requirements. This results in increased power and an even more resolute character.
Take, for instance, - the electric motor positioned over the front axle can engage at any time, rather than only past 118 mph (190 km/h) as is the case with the original. This implies that drivers can utilize the four-wheel drive more frequently.
Additionally, it's equipped with a "push to pass" system that unlocks an extra 163 HP for seven seconds, aiding in overtaking maneuvers. Owing to this feature, the driver has access to a substantial 870 HP, markedly more than the homologated version.
The Modificata edition operates on the same three-liter V6 engine accompanied by an electric unit, much like the Le Mans version. However, it includes additional traction control configurations and maps controlling the engine's functionality.
It’s worth mentioning that the interior and cockpit bear no differences from the Le Mans vehicle, promising a singular driving experience. Regrettably, such an experience is reserved for a select few.
The 499P Modificata will be sold exclusively through the Sport Prototipi Clienti program designed for the brand’s most distinguished clientele. Included with the purchase of the vehicle is comprehensive service-logistic support spanning the entire period of use.
Ferrari has yet to disclose the number of units planned for production or the official pricing. However, it's assuredly not going to be inexpensive.
