Ferrari officially boasted about the track version of the 296 model, which will make its debut on the Mugello track on October 24th.

A few days before this event, the Italians boasted with photos and technical data. This is already the ninth model from the Ferrari Challenge series. The road 296 GTB was used as the base for its construction. However, the differences between these variants are substantial.

The most important aspect is of course the powertrain. The Challenge version has lost the hybrid system in favor of a standalone, twin-turbocharged V6. There is no lack of power. The three-liter engine generates as much as 700 horsepower, which, combined with an efficient braking system and well-developed aerodynamics, should result in excellent track speed.

Aerodynamics is actually the most important element of the entire construction. Although the Challenge version does not look as aggressive as the GT3, it is still supposed to drive as if it were stuck to the asphalt. Ferrari claims that the splitters, add-ons, and rear spoiler generate 1918 lbs of downforce at 155 mph.

All of this is wrapped up in the magnificent white and red of Ferrari, capped off with an Italian flag on the spoiler. This is a car that will certainly make a statement on the tracks, all while being a devilishly effective machine.

You will learn about the benefits of the 296 Challenge by following the Ferrari Challenge series in the 2024 season, where the new variant will replace the 488 Challenge Evo.
