Her recipe for baked feta with tomatoes has become a sensation on the internet. Allegedly, its popularity led to a feta cheese shortage in Finland! The TikToker initially shared this recipe two years ago and has since introduced variations, including innovative additions and even transforming it into soup!

Ingredients for pasta with baked feta and tomatoes

  • A package of pasta (penne, fusilli, or another of your choice)
  • Two bunches of cherry tomatoes
  • A block of feta cheese
  • Half a cup of olive oil
  • Half a teaspoon of sea salt
  • Half a teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
  • Two cloves of garlic
  • Half a teaspoon of dried basil

How to prepare pasta with baked feta and tomatoes

  • Place the cherry tomatoes in an ovenproof dish, drizzle with olive oil, and season with salt and pepper. In the center, place a block of feta cheese, also seasoned with pepper. This goes into a preheated oven at 356 degrees Fahrenheit for about half an hour. Meanwhile, cook the pasta as needed.
  • Flavor the tomatoes with minced garlic and add basil. If you prefer spicier meals, you can introduce a hot pepper. Finally, combine the baked tomatoes with the cheese, add the cooked pasta, and stir.

In no time at all, your meal is ready! This recipe has garnered over 19 million views on TikTok! Moreover, the recipe's creator has devised alternative versions. She showed that this meal can be prepared even quicker using a stove instead of an oven. However, remember that meals cooked in a pan are generally less healthy than oven-baked dishes.

One recipe, multiple versions

An alternative would be creating a dip using similar ingredients - just add sliced red onion, half a pepper cut into strips, and olives. Simply bake the ingredients and serve with your preferred sides such as crackers or nachos.

Soup fans can experiment with a liquid variation of this dish - bake the tomatoes and feta as indicated in the original recipe. Meanwhile, glaze an onion in a deep pot and introduce your preferred spices, canned tomatoes, and broth. Add the baked feta and tomatoes, blending everything together. The recipe's author suggests accompanying this soup with rice.
