The man then attempted to commit suicide and is currently hospitalized. Criminal proceedings for murder have been initiated. The family had six children.

"The gravest sin"

Family members of the murdered children are receiving necessary assistance, assured Larysa Mosolygina, the commissioner for children's rights in the region.

"The pre-holiday days have been overshadowed by the tragedy that struck the large family living in Mezurka. Four children perished. All necessary investigative actions are being carried out. The family is receiving needed help. I will not reveal more details," wrote Mosolygina on her VKontakte social media profile.
