Fatal roof collapse at newly renovated Serbian train station

Part of the train station roof in Novi Sad, Serbia, collapsed. At least one person has died, and many have been injured, according to local television.

Serbian media reported that the accident occurred just before 6 AM Eastern Time. Ambulances, fire trucks, and heavy equipment were dispatched to clear the debris. One person died, and many were injured.

The facility was recently reopened after renovations

The media indicates that the facility has undergone renovations recently. The first renovation took place in 2021, but after a few months, it was decided to undertake another. The official reopening of the station was on July 5, 2024.

In response, the Minister of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure, Goran Vesić, interrupted his working visit to Montenegro.
