If you are looking for a nutritious and filling breakfast idea, Farmhouse Eggs are worth a try. This power meal will keep you energized throughout the day, and its taste is irresistible.

Farmhouse-style eggs bear some resemblance to shakshuka, as the recipe involves breaking eggs into a tomato sauce. The dish is characterized by its spiciness and slightly warming touch, while the addition of cream and avocado provide a balance to the heat from the peppers. Despite being a filling meal that satiates you all day, the eggs are light and do not give a feeling of heaviness. However, it's worth noting that this isn't a diet dish due to its high cheese and cream content.

Instructions for making farmhouse-style rggs

You will need these ingredients:

  • 4 eggs,
  • 2.8 oz of grated cheddar cheese,
  • 18% fat sour cream,
  • 1 avocado,
  • 2 tortillas,
  • chopped fresh coriander,
  • 1 lime, cut into quarters.

You will also need these ingredients for the Rancheros sauce:

  • 1 finely chopped onion,
  • 2 chopped garlic cloves,
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes (you can substitute with regular tomatoes or passata if need be),
  • 1/2 of a finely chopped red chili pepper,
  • 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika,
  • 1/2 tablespoon of chipotle peppers in adobo sauce (fair warning - they're quite spicy, so adjust the portion size to suit your taste),
  • salt and pepper to taste,
  • cooking oil.

Instructions:

  1. Pour oil onto a pan and sauté the chopped onion until it turns glossy. Following this, add the chili pepper and garlic. Finally, stir in the canned tomatoes and chipotle pepper. Season it with smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Let the mixture simmer at a low heat for 20 minutes.
  2. Create wells in the sauce and break an egg into each. This should be done carefully as the egg will begin to harden quickly. Do not cover the pan during this step.
  3. Sprinkle grated cheese over the dish and cover the pan for about three minutes. Immediately after this, move the Farmhouse-style eggs onto a plate.
  4. Heat up the tortillas to complement the dish. Place it next to the eggs. Add a dollop of cream, slices of avocado, and a few wedges of lime.
