Mercedes will officially return to the global circuits in the FIA WEC Endurance World Championships for the 2025 season. The German brand will compete at Le Mans after a 26-year hiatus, with their Mercedes-AMG GT3 representing the LMGT3 category.

Competing in endurance racing will undoubtedly enhance the brand's motorsport prestige and boost the already popular customer racing series.

"It's no secret that we've been very keen for some time to bring the Three-pointed Star back to Le Mans. The 2025 season with the FIA WEC entry is the right moment – we are returning to La Sarthe after 26 years! The first FIA WEC season with LMGT3 cars has already been extremely interesting and we want to bring even more excitement to the field in future," says Christoph Sagemüller, head of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport.

Iron Lynx is an Italian team competing in the championships since 2021, using various machines. They started with Ferrari, then switched to Porsche, and most recently Lamborghini. The team will now switch to Mercedes.

Claudio Schiavoni and Matteo Cressoni have already been confirmed to be behind the wheel. The rest of the lineup will be announced later. The 2025 WEC season will kick off on February 28 with Qatar's 1126-mile (rounded) race.
