Details of the attack

The tragedy occurred on Thursday, November 30. Out of the blue, the animal pounced on the infant. It began pulling and biting at him relentlessly, making it utterly uncontrollable.

Emergency services were soon called to the scene. It took some time for officers to pull the ferocious animal away from the infant. Medical personnel immediately attended to the injured boy, who was then transported to the local Grandview Medical Center. Tragically, the child succumbed due to the extent of his injuries.

The animal was euthanized on-site. Its remains were sent to a local laboratory for further examination. As of now, further details regarding the attack are unknown. The Shelby County Sheriff's Office has initiated an investigation to clarify the cause and circumstances of this tragic event.

"We are deeply saddened by this unfortunate and tragic event. Our deepest prayers and thoughts are with the family and all those affected," said Tony Picklesimer, the Mayor of Chelsea, in a quote provided by CBS News.

Mayor Picklesimer also confirmed that there were other children in the house at the time of the attack. Thankfully, none of them were harmed by the aggressive animal.
