It has been reported that Ukrainians are receiving letters from individuals posing as the Office for Foreigners. "These letters urge Ukrainian citizens to undertake military service, under threat of legal repercussions and extradition," notes the USC, highlighting that they are not the source of these letters.

The Office has released a scan of one such letter. In the header, it indicates that it is a "repeat summons for military service."

Content of the fake summons for Ukrainians

"In accordance with the applicable laws of Ukraine, particularly the Military Service Act, and due to the ongoing mobilization, given your status as a citizen of Ukraine, we are warning you that between December 17-31, 2024, we will visit your place of residence," states the letter.

"The purpose of this visit is to escort you to the mobilization point, as required by the obligation of military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the counterfeit letter continues.

Additionally, it says: "According to Ukrainian regulations, individuals summoned for military service must report immediately. We expect you to take all necessary steps to meet this obligation."

At the conclusion of the fake letter, there is a warning about supposed consequences. Specifically, if a Ukrainian citizen does not voluntarily comply with the summons, it could lead to actions such as an arrest warrant.

"We remind you that individuals who evade military service may face legal and criminal consequences, including extradition to Ukraine," states the fake summons.
