Fabio Grosso demands compensation from Olympique Lyon after hooligan head injury
A shocking assault took place in Marseille in October. A bus containing the coaching staff and Olympique Lyon players was bombarded with stones by riotous fans of the opposing team. Fabio Grosso was among those injured in the attack, requiring stitches to his head.

Images of Grosso, bloodied and bandaged, walking around the Marseille stadium made their way into the media. The anticipated face-off between the teams in October was canceled, and the match was later played in December without spectators.
The club authorities thanked Fabio Grosso for his cooperation and let him go due to unsatisfactory results. Grosso's dismissal took place on November 30, but finalizing the termination of his contract, which was supposed to run until June 2024, hasn't been straightforward.
According to French media, Fabio Grosso is claiming compensation from the club for health-related damages. He is not alone in this pursuit, as four colleagues also claim compensation. The total compensation the coaching staff seeks amounts to between 1.77 and 2.36 million dollars.
"What happened could have ended in a tragedy. It certainly was a bleak moment for the sport and all who love it. I sincerely hope this will serve as a lesson," wrote Fabio Grosso on Instagram shortly after the incident.
A considerable misunderstanding might prevent the parties from dissolving their contract until it naturally expires. Grosso's demands add to the problems the club faces, as Olympique Lyon, a past representative of France in European cups, is currently struggling in Ligue 1.
