The ability to land military aircraft on civilian roads is highly valuable in potential armed conflicts. Airports, particularly military ones, are often primary targets for enemy attacks. Keeping aircraft on runways for extended periods can lead to severe losses, especially since the locations of these airfields are generally well-known long before any hostilities begin.

The footage shared by Lockheed Martin on the official F-35 Lightning II account on Platform X demonstrates this fighter jet capability, earning its recognition as one of the most modern fighters worldwide. The video shows the pilot adeptly approaching for a landing and smoothly touching down on a road. You can watch the video below:

The F-35 fighter is an advanced 5th-generation aircraft, featuring stealth technology that makes it difficult for radar detection. It can reach maximum speeds of up to Mach 1.8 (about 1,367 mph) and operate at altitudes of approximately 49,213 feet. The F-35 is capable of carrying various armaments, including GBU-guided bombs and AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles, making it a versatile asset on the battlefield.

Poland has ordered 32 F-35A fighters, with the first being unveiled in Fort Worth, Texas, at the end of August 2024. Poland is set to receive four to six units annually. The initial aircraft will be used for training Polish pilots in the USA and are expected to arrive in Poland between late 2025 and early 2026. Deliveries of all fighters are anticipated to be completed by 2030.
