The Chinese people are famous for their large-scale projects. This is evident in a gigantic amusement park, brimming with attractions and located in China's Anhui province. Intriguingly, this park, which was established in the 21st century, has been abandoned since 2019.
An Unauthorized Exploration of the Abandoned Amusement Park
Dutch traveler Bob Thissen, known for his affinity for visiting mysterious locales, added another destination - an abandoned Chinese amusement park - to his adventurous portfolio. He documented his journey on his YouTube and Instagram channels.
In order to get inside, Bob had to bypass the rules and go through the fence. Once he was in, he was confronted with the sheer scale of unused attractions.
"The park interiors are truly impressive," he mentions in his account, noting most of the infrastructure appears nearly new and undamaged, despite having been neglected for years. "Some buildings have even started being overgrown with vegetation," he explains.
A Massive Replica of a Disney Park
This amusement park, which could easily be dubbed a Chinese counterpart of Disneyland, was separated into several thematic zones. Visitors would have access to a princess palace, a dinosaur zone, an area dedicated to ancient civilizations, native Americans and the Wild West, and a space zone. On top of these, the park also promised thrilling experiences for adrenaline junkies with several roller coasters. All these were complemented by a broad gastronomic offering that included numerous restaurants and a playground for children.
Why then are these facilities abandoned today? According to Thissen's account, it's hard to believe that the park likely fell to its competition. Interestingly, some websites claim the halt in operation was due to planned renovations.
"There's nothing to suggest this," the explorer says, describing the park as akin to a ghost town. The only living creature he came across during his exploration was a cat hiding in the space zone.
"It's a shame," he adds," because everything here was built with such fanfare." While the park has a certain magical aura to it, it also elicits feelings of dread. "I definitely had goosebumps while walking around certain corners," he admits.
