Google has announced a bunch of new features. These include public transportation guidelines, updates to Maps functionality, and emoji reactions.

Google users will now be able to engage with the community by reacting to photos, movies or reviews with emojis. In some cases, they can even create a "mixed" reaction, thanks to the interplay between artificial intelligence and Emoji Kitchen.

For instance, a user can react to a photo of a new pumpkin bagel with a yum-face. "You'll automatically get an emoji reaction that's tailored to the content in the photo, like a mashup of the yum face and a bagel," according to Google's announcement. This new feature has been implemented on Android and iOS devices starting November 15th.

The latest updates from Google

Google is also updating the Lists feature in Maps. At present, you can use lists to save your favorite places. A recent upgrade allows you to customize your list with your own emojis, such as a snowflake or ice skate. This lets you associate a certain place with a specific emoji directly on the map.

Furthermore, Google has introduced updates relating to public transportation. These updates aim to make it easier to find the optimal route to your destination by taking into account expected arrival time, number of connections, and travel duration.

What's more, the update offers route customization with useful filters that let users choose their preferred mode of transportation, or even select a route with fewer pedestrians. For those who drive, there's good news as well: they can save on fuel costs. Users simply have to search for "gas prices" on Google Maps to compare the cost of fuel at nearby stations and choose the most economical option.
