EU weighs full trade embargo on Russia after failed talks
The European Union is considering implementing a full trade embargo on Russia. This decision is a response to President Putin's refusal to participate in negotiations in Istanbul. A meeting will be held in Tirana to address this issue.
During the meeting of the European Political Community in Tirana, EU members will discuss the potential implementation of a full trade embargo on Russia, according to "Politico."
This decision is seen as a way to exert pressure on Moscow. Representatives from the 27 EU countries, as well as from the Western Balkans, Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine, will attend the meeting.
One of the key topics will be the imposition of tariffs and restrictions on exports from Russia. A full trade embargo is under consideration as a tool to pressure Russia.
The decision to tighten sanctions is linked to Russia's President, Vladimir Putin, refusing to participate in negotiations in Istanbul, which were scheduled for May 16.
The meeting in Tirana aims to discuss strategies regarding Russia's actions on the international stage. Implementing a full trade embargo could significantly impact economic relations between the EU and Russia, making it a subject of intense debate among European leaders.
