The European Council has highlighted the critical importance of providing Ukraine with air defense, a decision unanimously supported by the leaders of the 27 EU member states during an extraordinary summit in Brussels.

The summit's final statement noted, "The European Council stresses the urgency of delivering air defense to Ukraine promptly and of stepping up the provision of all essential military aid, including artillery ammunition and missile projectiles."

The statement also mentioned that military support will be offered while fully respecting the security and defense policies of certain member states and considering the security and defense interests of the entire EU.

Furthermore, the leaders welcomed progress in legislative efforts to reallocate extraordinary revenues from frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine.

"The European Union and its member states are committed to boosting the delivery of humanitarian aid and protection for civilians, including supplies like generators and power transformers," confirmed Brussels's state and government leaders.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made a virtual appearance at the summit.

"The skies over Ukraine and our neighbors warrant the same level of security. I'm grateful to everyone who recognizes our security concerns as a call for equitable safety for all, valuing every life equally. Now more than ever, we need to surpass Putin's expectations with our resolve so we can steer this war toward a fair resolution. I believe in peace and remain confident in Europe's strength," Zelensky added.
