EU considers temporary customs relief for Ukraine's exports

After June 5, the regulation exempting Ukraine from customs duties on agricultural products exported to the EU will expire. The European Commission is considering implementing transitional measures until an agreement is negotiated within the framework of the association agreement with Ukraine. A spokesperson for the European Commission emphasized that extending the regulation is not an option.

Olof Gill, the EC spokesperson, reiterated on Wednesday that extending the regulation is not being considered. However, to avoid reverting to pre-war duties, the EC is exploring the introduction of transitional measures. These measures would remain in effect until a new agreement with Ukraine is negotiated under the 2016 association agreement.
