Till now, the First Lady of Turkey has rarely spoken out on the international stage. Yet, she has leveraged her position to voice concern over the crisis unfolding in the Middle East since October 7.
Emine Erdoğan expressed incomprehension towards Israel's implementation of "collective punishment." She emphasized that women, children, and the elderly are most afflicted in these situations.
"What's occurring in Gaza can't even be described as a war. At present, Palestinian war crimes, equivalent to crimes against humanity, are flagrantly committed, contravening universal humanitarian values and international law," she stressed.
Erdoğan emphasized that the "people of conscience from East to West stand in defense of Palestine's just cause." She highlighted that millions worldwide are protesting against Israel's "horrors" in streets, squares, and university campuses.
"Our country will continue to strive to extend every kind of support to the Palestinian people, including humanitarian assistance," said the Turkish president's wife. She underlined that her country is prepared to assist in resolving regional crises and fostering peace.

She criticized the USA's military support to Israel. "The weapons that the USA has aided Israel in acquiring are being used against hospitals, newborns in intensive care incubators, schools, mosques, churches, and even against ambulance vans carrying patients and refugee camps. Who can contend that Washington is playing a constructive role in the conflict? They are accomplices in a shameful act," she thundered.
Erdoğan succinctly outlined Turkey's objectives vis-à-vis the Gaza Strip conflict. She asserted that the priority is instigating a ceasefire and providing humanitarian aid.
"Turkey will champion a global understanding that compassionately treats people, appreciating their inherent importance, regardless of language, religion, or ethnic origin. We will strive tirelessly to restore trust, stability, and peace in the region and around the world," she said.
