During a joint press conference with Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas in Ankara on Tuesday, Erdogan expressed his concerns. "We have communicated our concerns to the relevant authorities about the importance of avoiding provocations as the month of Ramadan approaches," he stated.

Erdogan also criticized calls by some Israeli politicians to limit Muslim access to the Temple Mount, labeling these demands as "complete nonsense" and warning that such actions would have grave consequences.

Negotiations continue

International efforts have been in progress for weeks, aiming to reach an agreement to cease hostilities in the Gaza Strip before Ramadan begins. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant revealed last week that Iran, Hezbollah, and Hamas might leverage Ramadan for their purposes.

Galant highlighted that Islamic militants are plotting to launch the second phase of an initiative that started with a Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which resulted in a tragedy.

"We cannot concede to Hamas what it has failed to achieve since the war's outset," Galant asserted, cautioning against "irresponsible statements that could quickly escalate the conflict."
