- Forced relocation cannot be accepted. It would be utter cruelty. This is how Recep Tayyip Erdogan assessed Donald Trump's recent ideas. The President of Turkey shared his opinion with journalists on his return from visits to Malaysia, Indonesia, and Pakistan. Erdogan's remarks were quoted by the pro-government outlet Daily Sabah.

Erdogan claims that the Trump administration is making "miscalculations" regarding the Middle East. The President of Turkey stresses the importance of considering the history and values of the region. He also hopes the new occupant of the White House will fulfill his campaign promise to act for peace, rather than create more conflicts.

The statements from the President of Turkey are not surprising. Erdogan has already expressed skepticism about Trump's plan, which includes relocating Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip to other countries, mainly Egypt and Jordan. Ankara believes such proposals are backed by a "Zionist regime" and are not worth discussing.

A few days ago, during a visit by Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington, Donald Trump announced plans to take control over the Gaza Strip. The new President of the United States told journalists that after relocating the Palestinians, he would create a "Middle Eastern Riviera" in this area.

However, Trump did not provide many details about his plan, leading most experts to approach it with significant reservations.

The majority of Arab states officially criticized Trump's idea, while it was welcomed in Israel.
