The heat waves are once again affecting us all. How do you combat them? There is a straightforward trick to cool down your apartment. All you need is a Mylar blanket, also known as a thermal blanket. You can buy this product at any pharmacy for about $2!

An emergency blanket, often referred to as a survival blanket, Mylar blanket, or life blanket, is a product that should be in every well-equipped first aid kit. This thermal blanket, which can be purchased at a pharmacy, costs just a few dollars and can protect the body from both hypothermia and overheating.

One side of this piece of foil is gold, while the other is silver. The silver side should be close to the body if you want to warm up. If you need to cool down, the silver side should be on the outside.

The Mylar blanket can help in fighting the heat. Do you struggle with high temperatures but can't afford to install air conditioning? Rush to the pharmacy for a life blanket!

Heatwave? Grab an emergency blanket

If you're fed up with the heat, buy a thermal blanket and place it in the window. The apartment will not heat up when the gold side is facing inward.

How to use a thermal blanket to fight the heat? nto.pl provides the instructions. Follow these steps:

Preparing materials:

  • emergency blanket
  • double-sided mounting tape with Velcro
  • knife
  • pencil
  • yardstick

Measuring window panes:

  • Accurately measure the dimensions of the window panes where you want to place the survival foil.

Marking dimensions on the thermal blanket:

  • Mark the dimensions of the panes on the surface of the blanket using a pencil.

Preparing the cutting surface:

  • Place thick cardboard or a wide board under the foil.

Cutting the foil:

  • Using the knife, precisely cut the foil to the desired dimensions. Cut the foil decisively to avoid fraying the edges.

Mounting the Velcro:

  • Attach 1-inch pieces of double-sided tape with Velcro to the corners of the panes on the outer side of the window.
  • Place similar pieces in the middle of the length and width of the pane, following the instructions on the tape.

Installing the foil:

  • Attach the prepared, well-stretched foil from the outside to the window pane.
  • Firmly press the mounting elements in the form of Velcro tape.
  • Ensure that the foil's gold side faces the interior of the apartment.

Function of the foil: The attached foil acts like a one-way mirror: neighbors cannot see you, while you can see what is happening outside in a slightly darkened version.
