The combination of pistachios and crispy kataifi dough has quickly won over sweet lovers worldwide. It all started with Dubai chocolate, which later evolved into other sweets. Their great popularity means they disappear from shelves in the blink of an eye. So instead of driving around stores and bakeries, make the Dubai donuts in your own home.

Kataifi dough - where to buy?

Kataifi dough, also known as kadayif, is a type of filo cut into very thin threads. It resembles "angel hair" in appearance. It is popular in Middle Eastern, Greek, and Turkish cuisines, where it is used for both sweet and savory dishes.

It's best to order kataifi dough online. It's worth buying a larger supply and using it not only for doughnuts but also for Dubai cheesecake.

Even before tasting, Dubai donuts look enticing. Milk chocolate, gold sprinkles, and crushed pistachios make you want to say, "This feels luxurious."

Ingredients:

  • 19 oz all-purpose flour,
  • 0.25 oz dry yeast,
  • 3 tablespoons sugar,
  • 2 eggs,
  • 2 egg yolks,
  • 4 oz soft butter,
  • 0.85 cups milk,
  • 7 oz sugar.

Filling:

  • 14 oz pistachio cream,
  • 7 oz kataifi dough.

Additional ingredients:

  • 7 oz milk chocolate,
  • gold sprinkles,
  • pistachios.

Preparation method:

Step 1. Sift the flour into a bowl, add 3 tablespoons of sugar, dry yeast, eggs, and yolks, and combine. Add the milk and remaining sugar, then knead into a smooth dough. Cover with plastic wrap and set aside to rise for 2 hours.

Step 2. Once risen, roll out the dough, dusting with flour if necessary. Using a cutter, cut out round shapes for the donuts.

Step 3. Heat oil in a large pot. You can check if it's hot enough by dropping a small piece of dough in. When it starts to fry, it's time to add the donuts. Fry them on both sides until golden brown.

Step 4. Prepare the filling. Place the kataifi dough in a bowl. If it's not fried, toast it beforehand with some butter. Add the pistachio cream, mix thoroughly, and transfer to a piping bag.

Step 5. Using a knife, make a hole in the doughnut and fill it with the pistachio filling. Dip the donut in melted milk chocolate, sprinkle with chopped nuts, and add optional edible gold sprinkles. The homemade Dubai donuts are ready to eat. Enjoy!
