Elton John has been battling a severe eye infection that has significantly affected his vision over the past few months. He is currently undergoing long-term treatment, which, though progressing slowly, offers hope for improvement. During these challenging times, he is supported by his family and specialists, whom he has mentioned multiple times.
Elton John remains in contact with his fans, occasionally sharing updates about his health. Recently, in an interview with "Good Morning America," he confessed that he still cannot see from his right eye.
I unfortunately lost my eyesight in my right eye in July because I had an infection in the south of France. And it’s been four months now since I haven’t been able to see. And my left eye’s not the greatest - Elton John said recently on "Good Morning America."
Elton John still can't see out of his right eye
Despite this, Elton John tries to remain optimistic and hopes to recover soon. However, he still has moments of doubt, especially when it comes to work and not being able to utilize all his senses fully.
So, there’s hope and encouragement that it will be OK. But I’m kind of stuck in the moment because I can do something like this [the interview], but going into the studio and recording, I don’t know. Because I can’t see, a lyric for start. We’re taking an initiative to try and make it better," he said, without giving specifics. "I can’t see anything, I can’t read anything, I can’t watch anything," Elton John said.
The artist hopes that after completing the treatment, he will be able to finish his album.
It’s been awhile since I’ve done anything and I just have to get off my backside - he added.
