Elon Musk backs AfD as Germany's election stakes rise
Over 4,000 people gathered in Halle, Germany, for the official campaign launch of the AfD. An unexpected guest appeared online at the rally: Elon Musk. He stated that the elections in Germany could determine the fate of Europe, "perhaps the fate of the world." He strongly encouraged voting for the AfD, describing it as a great hope for Germany.
During the AfD election rally in Halle, Elon Musk supported the party. AfD is the "only party that can save Germany," said the adviser to US President Donald Trump. Musk urged to fight for a great future for Germany, receiving an ovation from AfD supporters.
"It is very important for people in Germany to be proud of being German," Musk stated, emphasizing that German culture is thousands of years old. He added that he read about Julius Caesar being "impressed" by the fighting spirit of the Germanic tribes.
Elections in Germany may decide the "fate of the world"
Referring to Germany's Nazi past, he declared that "there is too much focus on past guilt, and we need to move beyond that" and that this should be fought against.
According to Musk, the current government, in his view, does not care about the "health and welfare of the German nation" and instead "aggressively suppresses freedom of speech." Therefore, the AfD must "fight, fight, fight," especially for "more self-determination for Germany and European countries and less influence from Brussels."
Musk said the German elections could determine the fate of Europe, "perhaps the fate of the world." He encouraged AfD supporters to convince friends and family to vote for the party. The future of civilization could depend on these elections, he declared.
After Musk's speech, the AfD leader and the party's candidate for chancellor, Alice Weidel, said, "People, did you hear that?" she stated.
In Halle, besides AfD supporters, about 8,000 opponents of the group also appeared, deciding to demonstrate their dissatisfaction. The police brought in reinforcements from several regions to ensure safety. "So far everything is proceeding calmly," a local police spokesperson told the dpa agency.
