Reviving the Tuna and Pasta Salad
This recipe might seem familiar yet it has somewhat lost its charm over the years. However, a canned tuna salad isn't just a holiday recipe - it's equally suitable for parties, including New Year's Eve celebrations. It's suggested to use orzo pasta for this recipe, as it resembles tiny rice grains.
Ingredients:
- 2 cans of tuna in its own juice,
- 5.3 ounces of orzo pasta,
- 1 red bell pepper,
- 4 pickles,
- 4 eggs,
- 1 can of corn,
- 1/2 a medium-sized red onion,
- 1/3 cup of peeled sunflower seeds,
- A few lettuce leaves to line the salad bowl,
- Salt and pepper to taste,
- Mayonnaise.
Instructions:
- Fill a large pot with water and salt it. Once it comes to a boil, add the pasta and cook it according to the instructions on the package. The pasta should be al dente.
- Hard boil the eggs. After they're done, peel and dice them.
- Drain the corn and tuna.
- Slice the pickles and bell pepper into thin strips.
- Add the pasta, eggs, onion, corn, tuna, pickles, and bell pepper to the bowl.
- Stir everything well.
- Add mayonnaise to the salad and season with salt and pepper according to your taste.
- Move the salad into a bowl lined with lettuce leaves.
- Garnish the entire dish with sunflower seeds. For added flavor, consider roasting them in a pan first.
If preferred, you can use cooked rice in place of pasta. The salad should be stored in the refrigerator. It can be kept there for up to 3 days when properly sealed.
