More and more people are struggling with insomnia. In search of effective solutions, some turn to alternative methods to improve sleep quality.

Egyptian sleep ritual

One recommended way to combat insomnia is the Egyptian sleep ritual, used since ancient times. It involves wrapping the feet in cool, damp fabrics soaked in essential oils, such as lotus or sandalwood.

"The Egyptians knew that a drop in temperature helps the body naturally enter the sleep rhythm. By cooling the feet and inhaling aromatic oils, we can slow down, both physically and mentally," explained Dr. Nabil Haroun, an Egyptian doctor, as quoted by medonet.pl.

Cooling the feet and inhaling aromatic oils stimulate the nervous system to enter a deep relaxation mode. This method is particularly useful in the summer when heat makes resting difficult.

Other methods to improve sleep

For those struggling with insomnia, in addition to the Egyptian ritual, other methods are also recommended. One of them is the "10-3-2-1-0" method, developed by Dr. Jess Andrade. It involves avoiding stimulating substances 10 hours before sleep, eating light meals 3 hours before going to bed, relaxing 2 hours before sleep, turning off electronic devices an hour before, and avoiding morning naps.

Another method is lemon balm, an herb known for its gentle, lemony aroma, which has been used for centuries in natural medicine. Regularly drinking lemon balm tea before bed improves sleep quality, making it deeper and more restorative.
