Summer heatwaves can be bothersome, but they’re nothing compared to the Egyptian climate, where the average temperature in July is 91 degrees Fahrenheit. Many of us wonder how the Egyptians cope with such heat. It turns out they have a simple but effective method that brings relief during sleep. What’s more, it won’t cost you a single penny.

Cheap and simple way to handle the heat. The Egyptians have been doing this for years

Since the heat can be exceptionally bothersome at night, Egyptians, who deal with high temperatures for most of the year, have developed a method that helps them fall asleep. Residents of this country soak sheets in cold water, then wring them out and cover themselves with them at night. This simple solution brings immediate relief.

If you’re not a fan of sleeping under a damp sheet, you can use this trick slightly differently. Instead of covering yourself with it at night, dampen it and hang it in the window. As the sheet dries, it will noticeably lower the temperature in the room, making it much easier to fall asleep.

An important matter during heatwaves. Don’t forget about this

During heatwaves, it is essential to stay hydrated. Plain water is best, but make sure it’s not too cold. The temperature difference can cause tonsillitis. Instead, natural relief will come from drinking warm, herbal infusions. Such drinks will kickstart the body’s cooling process.

On hot days, it’s worth reaching for teas made from mint, lemon balm, or rosemary. Moroccan tea is an excellent hydrator. To prepare it, you need half a quart of boiling water, two teaspoons of green tea, four sprigs of mint, and four tablespoons of sugar. Mix all ingredients and leave covered for three minutes. Then strain everything through a sieve, and it’s ready. This sweet, refreshing infusion will surely bring relief on hot days.
