Natural and homemade cleaning methods are gaining popularity as they prove effective in scrubbing off the grime from hidden nooks and crannies. This shift in cleaning solutions stems not only from growing environmental and health concerns but also through an effort to manage household expenses, particularly in response to the increasing cost of chemically produced cleaning products. Fortunately, an array of familiar, domestic items can fit the bill, all within easy reach inside your kitchen cabinet.

Cleaning a toilet bowl effectively

While there are several ways to clean a toilet bowl, some of them tend to be more effective and practical than others. One such handy method employs an ingredient normally reserved for baking. Not everyone realizes that this particular commodity can also be used for household cleaning tasks, yet it has proven to be an extremely reliable option.

So, what's this magical kitchen product? It's yeast. Using yeast can restore your toilet to its former cleanliness and brilliance. To utilize this cleaning hack, simply throw a crushed cube of baker’s yeast into the toilet bowl at night and sprinkle it with two tablespoons of sugar. Let this mixture sit overnight, then give the toilet bowl a light scrub with a brush and flush the toilet in the morning.

Alternative ways to scrub your toilet bowl clean

What if you've run out of yeast? No problem, there are other household items that can just as effectively clean your toilet bowl.

One highly recommended method involves baking soda and salt. Mix half a cup of salt with half a cup of baking soda then pour the mixture into the toilet. However, don't flush it straight away. It's best to leave the mixture sitting for several hours or even overnight.

After the waiting period, scrub the toilet bowl thoroughly with a brush. To boost the cleaning effect, add coffee grounds, which act as an excellent scrub for the toilet surface and also neutralize unpleasant odors. In the end, flush everything away.
